What are some names that typify naming traditions in Faerunian nations?

The equivalent of quintessential national names and/or common placeholder names in that culture. Like, Anglo-American names Tom, Dick and Harry, or John Smith, John Doe or Tommy Atkins; French Pierre-Paul-Jacques or Jean Dupont; German Hans und Franz; Dutch Jan Janssen; Irish Paddy; Italian Mario Rossi; Russian Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov, etc.

What is the quintessential Cormyrean name?

Or Sembian?

Condathan?

Chessentan?

Impilturan?

-The FRCS has some names broken down by region that I guess, for a lack of no other reason why they're included, that they're common names for those areas/groups. Regional sourcebooks that have NPCs mentioned, you can see some patterns in names and naming conventions.

Yes, I've seen the names in the FRCS.

They do not, however, distinguish between any of the numerous nations that speak some variety of Chondathan. Yet Earth certainly has different popular names even in countries that speak languages from the same branch of a language family. Or even dialects of each other (consider Barbados, India, Jamaica, Scotland and the various regions of the US).

FRCS aside, people from Cormyr, Sembia and the Vilhon Reach do not have identical naming habits in any sources, for all that they might be able to communicate in different dialects of Chondathan.

I do suspect that this is something Ed Greenwood might have addressed in some of his replies and/or at least some great loremasters of these halls might know more than the FRCS.

This really is not covered much of anywhere. Basically, as a Shared World, a writer/author can name a character anything they want: to say "force" a writer/author to use "a type X name" is seen as wrong.

Most people just have a name like "Tempus Blackthorne" or "Buorstag Hlammythyl" with no rime or reason.

Occasionally a writer/author or two might use set regional names...but it hardly matters as no one else does. Some Calimshan people have names like "Nadim el Cajaan", but plenty just have ones like "Theebles Royuset .

Learned Scribe bloodtide_the_red,

I would suggest looking at the parallel nations of the Realms to Earth, and from there, utilizing naming conventions from those nations here on Earth. It's what I do in my campaigns and it works pretty dang well. URL below.
