I am always curious about the compsoition of various parties. So I ask, what types of characters are in your party. I'm not asking for full blown stats just the basics. And whats the name?

Ours is the Noble Wolves. Its compromised of a human Ranger who is the most senior and the leader. His protege is an air genasi Ranger. There are moon elf siblings, a bladesinger and a sorceress. Plus, the typical dwarven axe-wielding warrior.

When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight.

Here's the party I DM for - for some reason they won't choose a party name...

male human wizard 2/ranger 3 of Mystra
female human bard 1/cleric 4 of Sune (on her way to heartwarder)
male moon elf swachbuckler 3/fighter 2 (on his way to bladesinger)
male moon elf ranger 2/rogue 3

I've run 'em through the Raiders of Galath's Roost, the Melvaunt adventures from Mysteries of the Moonsea, and now they're about to enter the citadel in the Sons of Gruumsh adventure. Nice mix of abilities, skills and personalities.

Marlwej Mahaallin, CG male wild elf Seer 5/Anarchic Initiate 3 - a prophetic type with life filosophy similar to Xaositecs - from Misty Vale

Iawo Doluntay, CN male ghostwise halfling Barbarian 1/Rogue 2/Spellthief 5 - a coward, prankster - from Chondalwood

Maqsipas Soquosuwa, LN female deep imaskari Monk 2/Cleric 5/Sacred Fist 1 of Mystra - serious type - from her city

Filsaelene Sunleaf, N female moon elf Druid 8 of Rillifane Rallathil - obsessed with summoning - from Yuir

Garblux, NE male githyanki Psychic Warrior 6 - really dumb, thinks only about his sword - from Sigil

I currently run a Dune adaptation (big fan) campaign in FR, in Plains of the Purple Dust, there's a isolated clan of imaskari descendants, they're similar to the Fremen but the Spice that they collect from the purple worms is used in creation of various sorts of gates, portals, extradimensional stuff ...

The main PCs in my game (presently near Citadel Adbar):
They have not yet chosen/been given a name.

Argyle, human wizard (evoker) 4 - Famous for saving the entire group through careful use of grease, color spray and scorching ray
Timeth, human barbarian 5 - Think "Greatsword with a 40-foot move"
Laril, elf ranger 4 - "A composite mighty longbow is a 6 CON elf's best friend"
Marlick, human soulknife 5 - Smack! ... concentrate ... (lather, rinse, repeat)
Korgoth, human cleric (Red Knight) 3 - "How about you guys save some melee action for me?"
Northal "The Hammer of the Golden Flame", dwarf paladin 3 - Serves the god of the forge and is somewhat of a pyromaniac.

Regards,
Aelf, a bard of the Realms

Well, my gaming group haves NEVER chosen a party name or group name but present group where I play is;

Goblin (male); Gelkir the 'Fearless' (but group calls him 'The barbarian') Barbarian 2/Fighter 2/Warblade 3, CN
= Think of goblin who is taking fighting seriously and is follower of Tempus and Red Knight and plans establish war academy near Raven's Bluff (my char :)). He is famous for planning darring escape from drow camp (along whit party's warmage who doned most the killing but Helkir did the planning) from slave cage and used mere his wits alone. Also killed drow wizard by bull rushing the mage out of tight bridge what warmage could not hurt because globe of invulrenabillity. Also rolling down whit breastplate on over mile long stairs unhurt is small miracle what he have doned and also he is famous for bieng excelent cook which had already cooked minotaur, horses, giant rabbit and white dragon.

Goblin (male) ??? (do not recall name because the group have him mostly as the 'the blaster' or 'the warmage') Warmage 7, NE
= Simply imagine destructive greedy blaster mage then you have most of his personality covered. Famous for blasting drow camp up, killing drow priestess of Lolth in spellduel and knowed for serious accidents which make his bodyparts replaced whit mechanical parts (firstly arm which Gelkir modified whit scrapes of admantium as admantium spiked gauntlet, now both arms and eyes and also partial of chest has been covered by metal and eyes have golden colored topazes. Basically partial half-golem template now). Also destroyed Gond's temple and killed all occupants by accident and also for mouthing off and getting beated by bouncers of different bars. Also haves ranks in craft skill called 'Craft Spells'.

Goblin (male, inflicted wererat) ??? (name unkwon, we just call him 'death guy' because he is albino goblin whit dark hooded robes and haves scythe as weapon) Fighter 1/Ranger 4/Kensai 2, LE
= Famous for being clever in combat and doned longest journey ever by get teleported in far away into Kara Tur to elarn the ways of Kensai from golden dragon in monastery. Also from whole group haves highest 'kill tap' thanks often criticals occuring from scythe in melee.

Goblin (male) ??? (name not recalled because he is called often 'The Banenite' or pet name 'The Bandiiti') Cleric of Bane 5/Hand of Bane 2, LE
= Ambittious goaled goblin who plans conquer whole world someday and does not hold back any challenge directed at him by weka people but has knwoed for bieng coward one occassion in bar when he was wanted by hobgoblin half-fiend whit admantium bastard sword. Has also wiped out a orc clan by usage of call ligthing spell and also meld into stone by dragging big foes into underground and dump them into there. Recently have started abuse features of Hand of Bane against beholderkin and also giving out bad 'need a hand?' jokes. Also ahves 30 goblin followers who all follow Bane and have builded underground temple at Raven's Bluff sewers and now a wyrm aged kobold stonemason (a hostage who managed out talk banenite goblin and give on demands and threatened poke him alive whit walking stick if demands are not met and like wuss banenite filled kobold's requests) is building two massive green marble statues at temple's entrance which depict him. Also has turned bard and kensai goblins as followers of Bane and at moment turning warmage as one also.

Goblin (male, fae bloodline) ??? (name not recalled because forever he has been called 'The bard') Bard 6/Fae bloodline 1, CN
= Famous for being mad, suspects a worldwide conspiracy of hobgoblins being responsible all evil, his lute knowed for break stirngs whenever he is -? HP and he is aobut to be forgotten to be stabilized. Haves bright blue hair and eyes and knowed for being succesfully fascinate hydra each turn and acted second last (hydra was last in iniative). Also had succesfully used Suggestion bard ability to make other beholderkin kill other beholder kin whit eye rays because he said 'other behodler kin is illussion disguised goblin'. The other behoderkin was pinned down by Hand of Bane ability (which conjured bigby's forcefull hand). Party suffered no HP loss at all because whole goblin group acted before beholderkins and the behoderkin had no chance to escape the bigby's forcefull hands bull rush pinning.

GROUP ACHIEVEMENTS
-Disguised as halflings managed get trough Gates of Vaasa and torugh numerous goblin ear bountyhunters.
-Escort disguised imp to portal to hell and after negotiations send in twenty dwarf paladins along whit halfling paladin hero from local temple of Helm (by telling the truth by saying there is imp who have opened portal into hell but not telling we were delivered to seek soul sacrafices to imp) and like cowards whole group runned before conflicts results were done.
-Slay badass elf whit spiked chain (suspect he was dragon indisguise becuase of 1,000 mercenary corpses around him).
-Slay White Dragon in snowy mountains.
-Looted Zhengyi witchking's old castle, did get only massive crystal ball which was named as 'TV' as fun OOC wise. Sadly had to give it up to criminal boss because we were hired to get it.

Right now, my group is a 1 on 1 game with my fiance. Her character is a human (Aglarondan) Ftr 2 / Rog 4 who started out as a simple Aglarondan barmaid who was swept up by Thayan slavers. Since, she has learned to curse her luck (ironic, considering her mission was to deliver a Tymoran priest's last words to the high priest of Tymora).

Her companion is a human (Mulhorandi)Clr 3 (Hoar) / Ftr 3 who is just out for fun. He's turned into kind of a "guardian" of her character, which is kinda fun to play out. We'll see where that goes.

Yes, you could, but nobody would see it because the moderators would yank it. And actually, I know where you were going, and there is romantic tension between the characters, but not to that point. We keep gaming separate from our own lives. Thanks for the idea, though.

"The Wailing Dwarf" (because they are off to reclaim their ancestral home there) which is:

Dargnoff Bronzebeard - Dwarf Barbarian (will soon be a Battlerager)

Runestorm Bronzebeard - Dwarf Cleric of Moradin who wields Cynofal's Slammer (a warhammer that is now a weapon of legacy, he will be a Hammer of Moradin soon)

Ulfgar Bronzebeard - Dwarf Fighter/Dwarven Defender (with a level in Dwarf paragon i believe - thunder twin of Garulf)

Garulf Bronzebeard - Dwarf Wizard/Runecaster (thunder twin of Ulfgar)

El-Tran - Half-Aquatic Elf Half Calishite Human bard/sorceror/1/2 elf paragon/spellsinger (he is an oxymoron in that he is half aquatic and half heat type race - also he has rainbow dyed hair and wears rainbow colored contact lenses)

Ksandlia - Human Rogue/Stoneblessed (stoneblessed class gives her dwarven traits)

A halfling sorceror and an elven Ranger are also with the party...i forget their names (they are new)....and they had a guide in Anauroch who was a Psyhic Warrior

Karsite Arcanar (Most Holy Servant of Karsus)

Anauria - Survivor State of Netheril as penned by me:

My current party was thrown together through circumstances revolving around a cult of Malar in the Shaar; hence we have no group name since we barely know each other. But, the party is made up of a Moon Elf Rogue 15, a Half-Orc Barbarian 16, a 14th level psion (one of the psionic races, I don't remember the name), and my Werebear Cleric 13 of Hoar.

Here’s the current breakdown of the group I DM for. Their adventuring charter lists them as “The Companions”, though a side note insisted upon by Tassion states his objection to this name and his preference for an alternative: The Company of Dragonbait.

Note there are four players in the group, with each player running two characters each. Levels listed as (#) account for level adjustment.

Ahmed Ibn Al-Fahalen, Male Aasimar (1), Paladin 16, Purple Dragon 5, Baron of the Stonelands
Ahlena Ibn Al-Fahalen, Female Aasimar (1), Cleric 18, Heirphant 1

Kaili, Female Drow (2), Fighter 4, Bard 6, Dervish 10
Kagan, Male Drow (2), Cleric (of Ellistraee -take that canon lovers!) 8, Fighter 8, Divine Champion 1

Maowind Manaweaver, Male Human Wizard 10, Loremaster 12, Chosen of Mystra (with all the attendant powers and difficulties such a lofty position holds)
Serena Moya, Female Human Psion 20

Tassion Redthorne, Male Moon Elf Wizard 11, Archmange 3, Loremaster 4, Planeshifter 4, kin of Illiphar (Lord of Scepters)
Ale Stein, Male Dwarf Fighter 4, Barbarian 6, Battlerager 5, Great Rift Sky Guard 5

....their current exploits include having just successfully raided the heart of the Temple of Bane at Zhentil Keep after a brief foray into Myth Drannor to find a portal that lead from MD to said temple. They’ve returned with a much-needed artifact for with the PC’s are now plotting strategy around, as it relates to how best to stave off the Shadovar of Shade long enough for them to parlay or fight with the now-massing (and previously lost) Army of Shade, itself having just punched through the weak planar fabric within the blasted black borders of Tilverton.

J. Grenemyer

09/20/2008: Tiger Army at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. You wouldn’t believe how many females rode it out in the pit. Santa Cruz women are all of them beautiful. Now I know to add tough to that description.
6/27/2008: WALL-E is about the best damn movie Pixar has ever made. It had my heart racing and had me rooting for the good guy.
9/9/2006: Dave Mathews Band was off the hook at the Shoreline Amphitheater.

Never, ever read the game books too literally, or make such assumptions that what is omitted cannot be. Bad DM form, that.

And no matter how compelling a picture string theory paints, if it does not accurately describe our universe, it will be no more relevant than an elaborate game of Dungeons and Dragons. --paragraph 1, chapter 9, The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene

We have quite an evil party atm.

A sor/wizard/red wizard/shadow adept of Shar, Shannar Lightbane. That would be me. I have so far done quite some interesting things, including stealing a ironclad from the dwarves and then outfitting it with adamintine and making it fly, making alliances with the shades and mindflayers, dominating my fellow party members, and accidently animating a gold dragon. (You seriously dont want to know how.)

A shade rogue/shadowdancer/assassin, wich is cleptomanic (not sure if you say it like that in english) and a addicted to diamonds. (Including if they are under a dragons skin.)

An minotaur fighter/barbarian/thayan gladiator with a focus on charging. And an int of 6.

By the way, the party we have now consists of a gnome warrior with a huuuugggeee axe (he is so awesome), a half ogre monk (we'll just have to see how that one will work out), an aasimar cleric, and a tiefling wizard. I love this game because the gnome has a wisdom score of seven, and Chris plays it well. We have already had him kicked across the room by the half ogre for trying to urinate on his boot (he had taken advantage of the fact that "it comes in pints"). Of course he was in the process of urinating while flying across the tavern, so let's just say there were some unhappy patrons in there that day. I think this will be fun game.

All interesting combinations, truely. Against them my group seems pretty straight forward (or in other words the common gang!!!)

The party I DM named itself: the "Flames of Faerun" and to underline their commitment to this group they all got various tattoos with fire related themes.

However they consist of:
- Thratesh* Oremaster of Clan Mealeirkyn (m Shield Dwarf, Cleric of Moradin 14) & his intelligent war hammer "Gorrun Dwarf 'n Steel"
- Saevel Arvenduil (m Woodelf, Ranger 7/Fighter 7)
- Sinoldri Ju'Oklanisol (m Sunelf, Illusionist 15)
- Isaac Steamhammer* of Clan Mealeirkyn (m Shield Dwarf, Monk 10)
- Jimmy "the Phoenix" formerly known as Jimmy "the Hand" (m Human Rogue 10)

Those marked with (*) have been formerly humans but have been gifted with the conversion to the shield dwaven race after securing the secret and remaining levels of Clan Mealeirkyn in Undermountain. (see Dungeon Crawl Adventure The Lost Level for details)

Our once a month group, which we've been playing since 1989 consist of:

The Company of Lost Souls

* Alorin Dawn, N Moon Elf Fighter 8/Wizard 13/Moonstar Agent 2

Driving force behind the group, owns a warehouse turned inn/tavern in trades ward, Waterdeep called The Hunt. Currently lives in Loudwater and is directing the groups efforts to thwart Zhentish efforts to control trade and freedom in the Lower Delimbiyr Vale.

* Delengard Palinshade LN Human Fighter 19

A former Cormyrian Purple Dragon Sargent, he is now a free roaming Marshall for the Lord's Alliance sent to hot spots to put out fires. Now watching hesitantly as his sons start their adventuring career.

* Quennex, CN Wood Elf Fighter 10/Rogue 14

A carefree, self-absorbed swashbuckling acrobat.

* Davos Northwind, CG Half-Satyr Fighter 8/ Rogue 7/ Bard 7

Merchant Prince in his own right, founded the small town of Duskwood Vale North of Cormyr. The nurturing diplomat of the group.

* Jerrinth, CN Bard(jester) 11/Wizard 7

Started out in 1st edition as a jester NPC class and developed several new, useful and funny as hell jester spells. His spell research drove him to take on pure magical training under the initial tutelage of Alorin.

Our new (not so low anymore)low level group that has yet to make a name for itself consists of:

The Company of the Steel Crown

One party is L5R(d20); Crane Clan Samurai, Dragon Clan Monk, Crab Clan Samurai, Phoenix Clan Shugenja, Hare Clan Samurai, Scropion Clan "Ashigeru" (can you say ninja), Lion Clan Samurai, and Unicorn Clan Samurai. Needless to say we don't do much but argue.
The other party WalkerNinja posted, but Angorn the Black started off as a Barbarian (here I come Battlerager PrC).

If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

Our Waterdeep campaign has been running for 13 years now (in RW time ;), and although it is focused on the City of Splendors and the North, we have travelled all over the Realms during these years (Amn, Cormyr and Tethyr, mainly). I could probably write at least twenty pages about our characters and the campaign in general, but I try to keep details to the "bare-bones" minimum. Note that we have not used many canon events in our campaign, although some of them might yet come to pass later on. Since we are still playing 3.0 edition, some of the stats may seem "wrong" or lacking.
Our adventuring company was naively named Heroes of the North by my 1st level energetic (and extremely naive) bard, Wilfred Rollingshoulder. The name stuck, since all of the characters liked it ("It really sounds so epic and glorious!"). Of course, all the others were young and naive, too :D
The company is also known as Heroes of the Northland (for reasons known only to the DM) in Amn and Tethyr. All of the original (non-noble) characters were eventually ennobled for their services to Waterdeep (hence the honorary title of Sir or Saer).

Lord Barun Tesper (N hm F16 ) - The scion of House Tesper, and a relentless master swordsman, who acts as the formal leader and spokesman for the company. He joined the company years ago, while investigating the activities of the Unseen. Lord Barun is burdened by his (self-imposed) duties to protect the weak and to champion all dwarven causes. The latter is due that he wields Kharrka Somrian - a greatsword dedicated to the faith of Dumathoin. A true diplomat and nobleman, Lord Tesper worships Helm, Tempus, Tyr and Dumathoin - yet his heart is most devoted to Selûne (and her high priestess, Lady Naneatha Suaril).

Lord Arakin Brokengulf (N hem Psion13?) - Sometimes called "Mad Arakin" (but never to his face ;), this elderly half-elf member of House Brokengulf went into self-exile to meditate/contemplate in High Forest after discovering his strange psionic powers. It was there that the Heroes met and befriended him on one of their journeys, eventually persuading him to return to Waterdeep as a full member of the company.

Sir Zereck Sunnydale (CN Halfling F13/Rog1) - Senior Civilar in the City Guard of Waterdeep, who recently chose to retire to have more time for adventuring. Known for using effective and innovative grappling hook -tactics and his passion for Zzar and mint pudding (!). A very loud-mouthed and aggressive urban Halfling, who probably is the largest and strongest member of his race in the North (although his grandfather is also a serious candidate for this title). Zereck is a fervent follower of Tempus, God of War, and briefly became his Chosen to wield the Red Book of War against the Sythisillian Horde in Amn.

Sir Najar Yubus ("The Fists"), Glorious Guardian of the North, High Watcher of Helm of Waterdeep (LG hm Pal13/Clr2 of Helm) - One of the founding members of the Heroes, who acted as the leader and spokesman for many years, until finally chose to semi-retire from adventuring life for churchly duties. He became the High Watcher after the Unseen had slain the former high priest (the only Helmite priest residing in the modest shrine). Sir Yubus wields the Holy Avenger, Godswrath, which was originally hidden in the deeper complex of the Blue Alley.

Sir Ruther Wildfire (CG hem Wild Mage 9/Wizard 13) - One of the founding members, who was trained by the mysterious mage Sabbar. Actually, Sabbar had mistaken Ruther for a cleaner, and found out after two years that he was, in fact, an apprentice candidate :) Ruther is still very young (18 years old) but already a force to be reckoned with. His mysterious studies into Wild Magic have caused many hair-raising moments and a lot of trouble for his fellow adventurers, yet Lord Barun is convinced that he should become the Archmage of Waterdeep once Khelben steps down from his office (Sir Yubus once noted that "He is just a young boy with too much power and magic in his hands!").

High Dawn Receiver and Morninglord, A'laess O'deer (NG hm/aasimar? Cleric 15/Contemplative1) - A Halruaan priest, who worships a different aspect of Lathander, known as "Father Sky" (a heretic). Recently transformed into an aasimar/half-celestial (no one else beside himself knows which) by Lathander's will, to help in the coming battle against the Evil buried under Ascore. A'laess is the only commoner in the Heroes, since Rezdal was ennobled recently.

Sir Rezdal of Zazesspur (also known as Gedzennar of Yartar; LE hm Rog?/Asn?) - a mysterious spymaster and merchant, who joined as a temporary member of the Heroes during the war in Amn. Rezdal seems to be very unscrupulous and cruel while conducting business (slave trade and exotic poisons, for example), but Lord Barun recognises his worth for the company - namely, Rezdal belongs to most of the evil organizations in the Realms! (Shadow thieves, Knights of the Shield, Fire Knives, Night Masks, etc. ;) Thus his value as an informant and a "propaganda minister" (spreading wildly exaggerated tales and misinformation about the Heroes) is priceless. Rezdal was recently ennobled in Cormyr, for his faithful services to King Azoun (Actually, as part of a group reward for the Heroes) - a fact that he is glad about, since Lord Barun had become increasingly tired of his lack of proper etiquette (especially when addressing his nobleman adventuring companions ;)
Rezdal uses several aliases and disguises in his line of work. The most notable of these is the timid sage Gedzennar of Yartar, a member of the Order of Magists and Protectors.

The Heroes have battled many powerful foes and faced a number of Realms-shaking Events during their adventuring career. They have slain many dragons (two of these Great Wyrms), vanquished an avatar of Iyachtu Xvim, gathered an army of crusaders known as The Fist and Fury (150 high-level followers of Helm, Tempus, Tymora and Lathander) and battled the Sythisillian Horde into retreat, returned the Wyrmskull Throne and some of its Scepters back to the clans of Shanatar, slain all members of the Unseen, penetrated the Imperial Mount in Shoonach (and fled Shoon VII ;), Slain a notable number of the members of the Shadow Thieves and Knights of the Shield, freed the Knights of the Crescent Moon from their ages-old sleep... just to name a few such deeds.

Now the campaign is running towards its end, with the emergence of the Time of the Beast (Age of Worms). In our campaign, a powerful Phaerimm deity was imprisoned under the pyramids of Ascore, and now that it has become free, the whole North is becoming a hunting-ground for the Phaerimm and their allies/servants.

"What am I doing today? Ask me tomorrow - I can be sure of giving you the right answer then."
-- Askarran of Selgaunt, Master Sage, speaking to a curious merchant, Year of the Helm

very cool, asgetrion and marquant. Thanks for the detail

When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight.
