Well met all,

I am glad to have found forums dedicated to my favorite series, the Forgotten Realms. I have read most of them and have yet to read one that I did not like.

I look forward to discussing books with you!!

I'm new here but not to D&D - been playing for about 15 years now.

I hope to pick up some new tricks of the trade, swap some stories, and do some RP.

Thanks for having me!

Well met all.

I have been playing D&D since the days of the little white books but I only discovered Candlekeep recently.

I have been working my way through through Ed Greenwood's threads. What a wonderful man! And what mature fora you have at Candlekeep, able to discuss difficult subjects.

Hails and well met, all! Similar to many others before me, I am a long-time lurker, first time poster. I look forward to contributing (where I can) to many of the insightful conversations here.

I've been playing D&D for about 12 years now and am currently DMing a new campaign set in the Moonsea North (Phlan, Thar and Northeastern Dragonspine Mtns.) region.

Heil all! My name is Mark. I am a long time fan of the Realms, but did not know of Candlekeep's existence (I am a tad behind when it comes to the interweb). When I found it, I immediately joined. Cheers to those that make such a site possible.

You ask me what I crave above all things? Knowledge.

Welcome to Candlekeep, within you will find vast amounts of knowledge and lore, plus you have the chance to ask designers and even the creator himself, may he live forever, Ed Greenwood. Enjoy your time within these hallowed halls.

Hello. I am brand new to this forum, and looking for a place to talk with other role players and lore gatherers.

Personal intro: I have played D&D since 1994, when I started on Basic D&D, 1st Edition. I played AD&D later that school year, then started DMing 2nd Edition in 1995. I reluctantly switched to a 2.0/3.5 mixture in 2003, and have DMed the same core group for the last 12 years. Instead of playing 3-5 hours once a week, my group of 5-12 players plays on average once a month for 16-24 hours.

I am then perhaps part of the "Middle Guard" rather than the "Old Guard," of whom I consider those that have been playing since the 70s and 80s.

I'm more of a serious role player. A Forgotten Realms purist. A linguist. I would be quite content talking to people about language or Realmslore. Perhaps specifically, I also joined this forum to become part of the 4th Edition buzz. Mr. Greenwood is right in saying that people naturally resist change, and my group and I are no exception. We, too, have a (perhaps pre-judicial) view of Wizards, calling them Wizards of the Greed. I would like to change my opinion (if it is merited) of the company through your opinions and evidences. I want to be excited about 4th Edition, but I fear - justifiably - that a 4.5 will decimate everyone's momentum in a very short time.

Right. Well that's quite enough for an introduction. I look forward to speaking with everyone.

Erundur

Inye Erundur, Varyar Eruhinion.

Welcome, Erundur, you've come to the right place.

Anyone who likes to read something that's really dark and gritty and completely awesome ought to read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. You can check out a little taste at www.BrentWeeks.com I should probably warn you, though, that it is definitely not PG-13 :-D

He also started a new Trilogy with Black Prism, which may even surpass the Night Angel Trilogy in its awesomeness.

It's good to be part of the Candlekeep Forums, I've gathered more Realms Knowledge here in Candlekeep than in any other place!

And then I say again: It's good to become part of this!

Hello, everyone! I was poking around at the WotC Forgotten Realms boards and I was told that Candlekeep is the best place to find out more than the Realms that were, the Realms that are and, if the rumors are right, the Realms that will be. I have a warm place in my heart for the Realms and... well, here I am.

:bows:

A little more about me and my history with roleplaying... I started being interested in fantasy from the screen of a computer, and I read Lord of the Rings around the same time. I'm still more of a gamer than a book reader, especially as there are quite a few FR books in the bookstores here. I only got into PnP in college, and while our group didn't get very far, I managed to read quite a bit from FRCS and a few other sources. I liked what I found and wanted to find out more, which eventually brought me here. I'm currently interested in finding out more about the big change surrounding the move to 4th edition. I've heard snippets about changes in Faerunian society and religion that I'm not happy with, but I guess I will wait... and hope

At present, I'm involved in a few play-by-post campaigns, as as far as I know there is no PnP group where I live. If anyone is looking for chatmates and can bear with someone living in the Eastern European timezone, please let me know.

Nice meeting you all. Zdraveite!
