Yes, but just the coastlines. Having no sources to fill in the middle, I've decided not to (for the most part). Osse is blank, Katashaka is filled with "Nyambe", Anchorome is drawn from non-canon sources found on the web, Lopango is my invention (Anchorome and Lopango are only filled in because Maztica is known and they connect... otherwise I wouldn't have). There are other blank lands out there as well.

Okay here's my list of map sections to get you guys this week:

Calimshan
Unther
The Yehimals
The Shaar
Impiltur/The Vast

Jakk I think you asked for one that looks something like this: http://img576.yfrog.com/img576/9008/westheartlands.jpg

Did I miss any?

Thanks,
-Rob

Sword Coast South... yummy...

Thank you Rob!

Erm... are those others supposed to have links, or have I just managed to post before you had a chance to put them in?

Erm... Jakk epic fail...

No other words for it, Rob... I went to save that Western Heartlands map you just linked to... and I already have it. The original link is back on page 1 of the scroll... don't ask me how I missed the map itself when I was stitching things together; I've been downloading all of them as you put up the links... like I said, Jakk epic fail...

Many, many thanks for all of this, Rob... and I'll make sure I've looked at every. Single. Map. In the folder before I post another request...

Edit: Addendum: Mulhorand please? And thank you very much again! I think it was in the batch I asked for in the last few days, but I may have missed it... and yes, I've double checked my "Awesome maps from Rob" folder, and there's no sign of Mulhorand... did I miss a link earlier, anyone?

On a related note: Could you possibly extend that Unther clip to include Chessenta? Greatly appreciated!

This is certainly my last regional request; beyond this, I'm happy to wait for the finished multi-part epic.

Thank you again, Rob, for all of your work on this awesome project. You never did answer my question as to your computer hardware...

***Jakk does happy dance***

Thank you, Rob!

I'm really glad this is text-based... because seriously, I can't dance, and I don't want to inflict that visual on others.

Many thanks again, Rob... and to those of you who haven't checked out Rob's other project, do so! I've started a new scroll here for comments; as noted there, my plan is to use Sorol (->direct link here<-) as the actual world of Abeir in my Realmspace; see that scroll for more details of my plans, and definitely have a look at the world itself. I was actually even more impressed by this than I was by his awesome Toril map. Seriously.

I'm loving these maps

On the right side of the Shaar map, just east of River Azulduth is a ruin without a label. Was that intentionally left blank or just an oversight?

As are we all... I was reminded, looking over these maps, of a long-standing peculiarity... the occurrence of the name "Ormpur" twice; once on the west coast of the Shaar at the western end of the Wyrmbones mountain range, and the other in Narfell between Jiyyd and N'Jast... and my search-fu is weak; the explanation eludes me, but I definitely recall that one exists (just as there is an explanation for two Ithmongs, one in Tethyr that was renamed to Darromar, and the other on the shore of Lapaliiya; that land was colonized by Tethyrians, hence the name being repeated; this is in fact an answer from Ed, paraphrased from memory; I don't recall which scroll it was answered in, but I strongly suspect 2008 or 2009, as I believe that it was one of my questions).

Edit: I believe that the Ormpur explanation has something to do with a magical portal migration from Narfell to the Shaar... and I found it: GHotR, p39:
quote:
–946 DR
The armies of the Nentyarch of Tharos destroy Shandaular, capital of Ashanath. All the petty Nar kingdoms are now united into the Empire of Narfell. The people of Shandaular flee by means of the two-way portal around which their city is built, leaving their leader Arkaius behind to seal it. These people, now in the Council Hills area of the Shaar, name themselves the Arkaiuns in honor of their fallen ruler.

Hah! My search-fu is not as weak as I thought! The elusive lore will yield itself up to me, or be found anyway!

So you've not been convinced to use that other non-canon source for Osse, then? Check out the work by CK scribe Patrakis (link) on the physical geography; his Anchorome and Katashaka look somewhat different, but similar enough to what you've done, and I really like what he did with the larger islands and Osse. I'm of the opinion that the only thing we're going to get for Toril outside of Faerun is what we as a fan community come up with ourselves, and I think that Patrakis' work is the best (if not the only) source I've found for Osse and the larger islands.

If I thought an inquiry to WotC regarding their plans for Toril outside of Faerun would do any good, I'd make that inquiry. But in their approach to 4E, they have clearly demonstrated to me, at least, that Toril outside of Faerun does not exist in their plans.

Rob, any chance we can convince you *not* to leave those lands lacking canon geography with no geography at all? (See also my latest post (with link) in your "Zoomify" scroll.)

There are enough similar sources out there that producing something consistent for Osse and the larger islands is (imho) a better option than leaving them blank and featureless. A physical geography would give the CK community a starting point to produce a shared, consistent description of these lands, that may be the closest thing to canon that we ever see for them.

Rob: Love the work with the maps, as always.

Jakk/Sage: Interested in Osse and it's framework. What kind of lore are we talking (and if we get started, a new scroll, perhaps?)

On that first note, Rob, a clip of the Golden Water area (from Luiren to Konigheim, approximately) would be brilliant; apart from that, I'm listening to WAV files of crickets to come up with thri-kreen place names. Yes, I'm kidding. I have better sources than that; the difficulty is in making it original. I used "Thri-Kreen of Athas" as a fairly major source for the racial descriptions of my thri-kreen, but it's all properly attributed, cited, etc. I *do* have some original ideas for the society of these thri-kreen, but places need names first...

Nothing I can think of at the moment, other than my previous request for a Kozakura map with provincial names and borders included?

Here's the Shining South:

Razz, I considered adding the provinces of Kozakura, but they are so incredibly tiny that I decided it was best to leave them off. Perhaps someday I will do an expanded scale map of Kozakura that includes them, but for now I can only say, they don't fit.

Sorry!

Handsome Rob - Before anything else - I just want to say this: GORGEOUS MAPS! Beautiful stuff. I was wondering, though - in the maps that I have access to (current as of the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas, the sites from I3-5 Desert of Desolation, like the Gates of Sule, etc., are located almost dead north of Bralizzar. On your map, Bralizzar lies quite a distance to the west (about where it ought to be, according to FRIA). Was this a change brought about in 3E? Just wondering.

Hey thanks.
I had so much trouble reading the maps that came with Desert of Desolation. They were in some funky script I couldn't read, and I never really was able to line them up with other published maps. So my locations for that region all come from here:

A map provided by the ubercartographer MarkusTay.

Hope that answers your question!

Ah, OK. There was always a problem with Desert of Desolation, as it's basically a "foreign" adventures series that got shoehorned into the Realms. In that case, you'll probably need to put Bralizzar and the Northknife Pass further east, and have the trail from Bralizzar align with the one leading to the Gates of sule, much like MarkusTay has done. Other than that: no comments ;

LOL Silly me, I should've been more clear. I understand the current map is too small for them, what I did mean was what you actually suggested. A separate link to a "zoomed" or "expanded" version of Kozakura displaying the provincial borders and names. :D That's something I look forward to!

Thanks, Rob!

I've just recovered my system from three hours of downtime; I was trying to fix my sound, and ended up causing the system to blue-screen on boot... back up and running now, without a reinstall, fortunately... but still without sound, apart from fully functional hardware tests and the basic system beep... very odd...

Edit: I was perusing my newly-updated patchwork map, and I found another couple of corrections for you, Rob. The god-tombs in Unther should be named for the gods Marduk and Nergal. Also in that region: If you're going to keep the River of Swords as the border between Unther and Mulhorand, then Unthalass should still be the capital of Unther. Otherwise, if Messemprar is the capital of Unther, the Mulhorand-Unther border should be somewhere west and north of Unthalass, if not the River of Metals/Methmere itself (which would force Messemprar to the north bank of the river; I'm not sure on that city's precise canon location, either).

Can other scribes help out with the details of the 3E Unther-Mulhorand border, please?

drool... when I asked for the missing bits of Impiltur, Aglarond, and the Vilhon Reach earlier, this is exactly what I was looking for... but I didn't want to be greedy.

Thank you both, Rob (for giving us this treasure) and MarcoVolo (for being bold enough to ask for it)!

Why is the neck between the dragonmere and the sea of fallen stars so thin? nearly a river. So different from the original 3e Faerun map .

Just curious, thanks
