Ha! I know this one! And off the top of my head too.
That would be Ilbratha, called the Mistress Of Battles. It was lost (how is not in my notes) and 200 years later found by Thallastam of Procampur, a noted swordsage and sage of swords, and member of the Nine Swords adventuring company (masters of the Sublime Way). Thallastam took it to Elminster to identify, then returned, but was slain near Battledale, with Ilbratha lost. Elminster believes it to now be in the hands of brigands or mercenaries, though it is in fact in one of the Inner Sea undersea kingdoms.
Sources: The Magister, Sea Of Fallen Stars. I'm a Vast fan, so this came up in my research, and I paid close attention.
Ooh, does this mean I get to ask a question? Um... What is the real name of Alamondh, the Hamayarch of Procampur? (Probably not hard, but eh.) |

This scroll should be right up your alley BCM. |
"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . If I recall correctly, 'tis Carthoun Misintle. And it's referenced in Forgotten Realms Adventures, one of my favourite FR tomes. |

That's right. And he's secretly a necromancer plotting to usurp the position of Thultyrl of Procampur (literally! - he plans to impersonate him). If anyone's an evil vizier, it's Alamondh.
(And currently still bothering my party well after they slew him, or thought they did.) |

Yeah, but Sage finally asks a question, 5E will be out, and everyone will have had time to track down and buy all of the old stuff. |

And just for that, I'm reconsidering my current question. I think I'll try for something even more obscure!
well its not like we have anything else to do.
we could poke fun of 6E dnd though..... |

Of course, that just added another two weeks to the time before we actually did get the question... |

It seems to me that the obvious thing to do while we wait on the Sage is to answer his question before he asks it.
A: Why, I do believe it was Asheyron of Arabel who told Elminster that a gorgon's breath smells like stewed cabbage.

Strangely, I was initially thinking of an abstract piece of Ed-lore. But not any more.
Anyways, I just need to check up on how "available" this source was, before I ask my question. |

Okay. None of my planning for this question has actually worked. I can't find the obscure source I've been thinking about. And my searches online revealed almost nothing that could, in any way, be considered useful. So I've just struck out with a quick question now, rather than make the rest of you wait any longer:-
Describe the Librarian's method of communication? |

Wrong world. Though I have often thought about placing Unseen University somewhere in the Realms. Perhaps as an alternative to Candlekeep? |

Capn, have you been raiding my dreams again?
...
On a serious note, I'm kinda surprised none of our more dedicated scribes have answered this one yet. I really didn't think it would be all that difficult, actually. Granted, it's obscure, but not as obscure as the question I wanted to ask.
Anyways, second hint will be along shortly. |

Not quite. Notice what I said in the question earlier. A "method" of communication. That suggests something a little more complex and involved than just a language. |

Keep pulling?!?
I assume it must be from Sea of Fallen Stars, but I haven't had the time to go through it all, and it's not ringing an immediate bell.
Go scribes! Go!
Capn's close. About as close as a Court Jester to the Throne.
[Yeah, that's less than 24 hours. But consider it a semi-hint]

Wow! Imagine if I'd actually gone with my earlier "really obscure" question.
Hint 4: Whether alive, dead, or undead, the Librarian takes its toll on each who are exposed to it.
