Thanks to my last source book purchase, I recalled I read the "Flowmud" term few days ago. So I found the martial name of the river !

Fanedown ! a riverport on the Sword River, in the Sword Lands.
Traditionally home to many minstrels, jesters, and wits, Fanedown is one of the few places in Returned Abeir where books are published. The town is ruled by a flamboyant fop, Lord Hansibran Maerl.
I finally understood why the Sword River did not sounds as "something that I knew" in my mind !
It's a 4E question !! The first one if I do not misunderstand.
It's a part of returned Abeir.
I found it in the 4E FRCG, p. 215. |

Are 4e questions allowable? 
Although I personally feel they should be, I think many of the 'learned scribes' here will have a problem answering them.
Then again, I suppose it's good to stump people.
The other side of the coin is that this question takes place outside of Faerūn - does that mean Kara-Tur, Maztica, and Zakhara questions are also allowable? |

While I'm not Wooly, incorporating 4E no more disadvantages scribes than incorporating the earlier editions' resources. It's admirable to want to not want others to feel excluded, MT, but scribes who don't update to 4E (like me) will find answers to some questions beyond their resources.
It's a good idea to clarify the position of peripherals like Kara-tur, Maztica, Zakhara and Abeir beyond the continent of Faerūn, though.
I caught your hint to the River of Swords, but I didn't have the answer, Christopher. It's a fun part of the game to learn more, so thanks for introducing me to Hansibran.
Now off to search for Starglance references! |

it's no different then the older gamers asking questions pertaining to lore from 1 or 2E sources. I think all editions of FR should be game. |

I'm honestly a bit divided on the 4E questions... I see no reason not to include them, but at the same time, the book is still quite new. And since it's so divisive, a lot of people are refraining from buying it.
I think we should allow 4E questions, but maybe we should steer clear of them for another month or two, to give people a chance to get and read the book.
As for Zakhara, Maztica, and Kara-Tur... All those places are on Toril and are thus part of the Forgotten Realms. I would point out, though, that even those folks quite familiar with a large amount of material about Faerūn may not be as up on the other regions. So with this, too, I see no reason to disallow the questions. Not everyone will know the answers, but that's also a risk with questions from older resources.
Me, I'm only good on the Heartlands, and I mainly know 2E and 3.x.  |

IMHO, I think we could be allowed to ask 4E questions.

Okay, it's looking like that coy Wooly one's probably got this one, but I think I'm still supposed to give a hint about now. Fillow, the non-native English speaker, managed to come up with a much better formulation of it than I did. What can I say? Public schools.
So, the question:
Where (and when) was the temple tended by Meriel Starglance located ? And to which deity was it dedicated?
Aaaand, your hint.
Meriel's temple is little known, even in the area where it rests. That can't be said of the other nearby temple, though, which many people have knowledge of. Which only makes sense, really. |

To be honest, I was more concerned with it being outside of Faerūn, then it being 4e.
I have the book, and just didn't think to check it - I was busy looking around the other River of Swords in Mulhorand trying to find it, after that hint.

Well, according to page 23 of FRS1 The Dalelands, Meriel Starglance tended to Corellon's temple. She was the only priestess, and she was planning on leaving for Evermeet. The same book refers to Mourngrym's son Scothgar, born in 1358, as a "young son", and it says Syluné's death in 1356 was "more than 10 years ago". So the timeframe would be around 1368, I think, give or take a few years. Looking up the "when" took a bit more effort.
Assuming I'm right...
